A kayak is a small and light, decked vessel, which is propelled by human muscular strength. Both those who practice this sport and those who just love to exercise on the boat often make kayaks on their own.
It is necessary
- 2 sheets of four-ply plywood 4mm thick and 1.5 x 1.5m
- Several bars (for making stems) 60 cm long
- 3 bars for frames (one bar should be 3/15/60 cm in size, and the remaining 2 bars should be 3/7/35 cm in size)
- 2 pieces of 2/13/50 cm
- 4 sticks measuring 2/6/35 cm

Instructions
Step 1
To make frames, draw a drawing on paper. Next, break down the three elements for each frame and cut them out. Please note that for the middle frame, the side elements must be the same, and for the other two, the two middle and four side elements must also be the same. Connect the frames (they are going to overlap). Cover the joints with casein glue, and also tighten them with screws.
Step 2
To make it more convenient for you to assemble the boat, make a slipway. After breaking the slipway, cut it off and cut 3 grooves for the frames and sew the bevels with planks on both sides of the slipway. Fix the legs - struts, and the rail that holds these legs together is nailed to the lower edge of the shield.
Step 3
Now you can start collecting the boat itself. Saw off the projections on the frames at the attachment points. Install each frame in the grooves and firmly secure with a rail and nails. 5 longitudinal rails are adjusted from the middle frame. Having adjusted all the rails to the frames, fix them completely by pulling them off with a screw at each attachment point and smearing them with casein glue.
Step 4
The most difficult of all operations is the fastening of the stems. Attach the prepared stem to any of the bevels of the slipway board and bend the keel rail to the stem on both sides, mark the cut line along the length, which will run at an angle of 45 degrees (approximately) to the stem axis. After sawing off the post along the cutting line, install it. Accurately measure the length of the two cheekbones and the keel rail and cut them off. Then cut the ends of these slats into the stem and fix with screws first the keel rail, and then the zygomatic ones.
Step 5
The boat frame is ready for plywood sheathing. Before starting the sheathing, grind the plane of the rails on the frames and pins. Next, from paper (necessarily thick), make a pattern for the bottom and side trim. Start the planking from the side surfaces of the boat. Start cutting the plywood with a margin of no more than 1 centimeter. Before installing the plywood sheet in place of the sheathing, fasten it with screws in several places and cut off the protruding edges, leaving a small margin (3 - 5 millimeters) on each side.
Step 6
Mark from the inside out the contours of the rails and frames, to which the plywood sheathing will eventually be attached. Next, remove the sheet and make a notch on the surfaces of the rails and frames, to which the plywood sheathing will be attached, and also make a notch on the plywood itself.
Step 7
Apply paint or putty to the corresponding places of the rails and frames and along the edges of the fixed sheet, and coat the attachment point with casein glue. Attach the plywood and secure it with screws in two rows. Use longer screws at the points where the pattern is attached to the frames. Pieces of exposed plywood can be trimmed or planed.
