To make such a doll with your own hands, you will need several cuts of fabric, thread, needles, wool or hair yarn. Satin ribbons, buttons, face paint and other cute little things to the taste of the creator will also come in handy.
Sewing dolls
The details of the doll's body are transferred to paper with an indication of the quantity, cut out of the paper and applied to the fabric. With a special pencil or marker, they mark the boundaries of the parts and allowances for the seams, after which they cut out the parts with sharp scissors. Body and face fabrics are best taken in flesh tones, but you can also use pure white, which can then be easily tinted.
Instead of cutting out the details, you can use a different method. To do this, after drawing the contours of the parts, the fabric is folded in half and cleaved or swept away so that the layers do not shift. Then all the details, except for the head, are sewn with the required holes for turning and stuffing. The head consists of several parts, and they will have to be cut and stitched separately. Sewn details in this version are cut out after stitching. Two parts of the head are cut out with a convex nose, and two without.
Notches are made along all convex, curved lines of the seams - the seam allowance is notched in the transverse direction, leaving 2-3 mm to the line. This is done in order to avoid wrinkles and creases in the fabric when padding, so that the seam does not pull together. Concave seam lines do not need such a procedure. In difficult places, such as the hands and feet, incisions are made often, every 0.5 cm. On the elbows and head, it is enough to make them every 2 cm.
Details are filled with padding polyester, you need to stuff very tightly. Loose padding will distort the silhouette of the doll over time, since the synthetic winterizer is packed and felled, large and small bumps will be visible under the fabric. For the same reasons, batting and cotton wool should not be used.
The lower section of the torso is sewn to the legs. Then the neck is inserted into the head and sewn with hand invisible stitches.
Hair, face, clothing and accessories
The fabric for the dress is folded in half, laying the back pattern on it, and cut out in one layer before it. The details are cut out, noting the seam allowances and the fold line on the back. The central cut of the back is folded inward along the fold line, the hem is pinned to it with the help of pins. Details for sewing are folded with the right sides inward. After the seams have been sewn, the bodice is put on the doll, the fastener on the back is cleaved with pins, then the seam is closed with secret stitches while simultaneously being sewn to the doll's body. Hands are sewn on top of the bodice with blind stitches. If desired, sleeves are put on them, and a collar around the neck.
A pattern is applied to the fabric folded in half for the skirt, seam lines and allowances are outlined, the skirt is cut out. Stitch along the side seams and fold the bottom, decorating it with ribbons or lace if desired. The skirt is put on the body, the required number of folds is laid, the bodice and skirt are connected with hidden stitches.
The most convenient way to create hair is to use felting wool. The strand is cut off and secured on the head with pins in the place where the parting should be. You can roll the wool to the head using special needles, or you can simply sew on with small stitches.
The contours of the eyes are outlined with pencils, then, starting with white, acrylic is used. Shoes are most often also painted with acrylic. Additionally, you can create jewelry on the hair or on the neck, give a handbag, a bouquet of flowers or even a pet in your hands.
