The zipper is very convenient to use, practical and functional. But from time to time, the lightning can fail, "junk", or even break altogether. Worst of all, if this nuisance caught you outside the house and away from the repair shop. How do I undo a stuck or broken clasp?
Instructions
Step 1
If the fastener is working properly, but the "tongue" for which we usually pull the zipper breaks off, an ordinary paper clip can do the job. Bend the wire slightly, insert it in place of the broken piece, and carefully unfasten the zipper. Instead of a paper clip, you can use any sufficiently stiff wire or pin.
Step 2
What to do when there are no pieces of iron and paper clips at hand? Gently pick up the "dog" with the tips of your thumb and forefinger (front and back, as viewed in the direction of travel) and move it in short jerks in the desired direction. For convenience, it is advisable to lightly press the "dog" with your fingers on the inside of the fastener (if, of course, it is possible to get to this very inner side).
Step 3
Use jaws of pliers instead of fingers if you have access to tools. Grab the dog from the sides and move it slowly. Try not to use excessive force so as not to damage the "dog". If the clasp as a whole is in good working order, then it is usually not difficult to unfasten it in this way.
Step 4
Sometimes it happens that when zipping shoes or clothes, we act with undue haste. In this case, the lining of clothes or a decorative leather strip of shoes can get into the connected parts of the fastener. At the same time, the lock wedges, and it becomes difficult to move the fastener in the usual way. In this case, try to be careful not to damage the "tongue", swing the "dog" left and right, while moving it towards the clamped part.
Step 5
In some cases, soap or a candle can help to facilitate the opening of the zipper. Use a candle to wipe the zipper teeth in the direction of the dog's movement. On the surface treated in this way, the lock moves much easier.
