The Underworld portal in Minecraft is a purely man-made structure. This means that in a single-player game, the only way to get to the Nether is to make a portal yourself. On multiplayer servers, you can use the already built portal of another player.

Instructions

Step 1

The portal to the Nether is built from obsidian. The minimum number of blocks of this material to build this structure is ten. Obsidian is the most durable material in Minecraft. It can only be obtained with a diamond pickaxe, and it will take ten seconds to destroy each block of obsidian. This mineral is not destroyed by explosions, and to destroy a block with any other tool, you will need fifty seconds, and you will get nothing.

Step 2

Obsidian is formed by the interaction of water and lava. To get obsidian blocks, you need to pour a bucket of water onto a lava lake in which there is no current (such a lake is considered to consist of special block-sources). Next, using a diamond pickaxe, you need to carefully mine the blocks, given that there may still be lava under them. Ideally, after mining one block of obsidian and finding a layer of lava under it, you need to pour a bucket of water there. This will turn the dangerous liquid into another layer of obsidian, so that the top one can be mined without fear of burning.

Step 3

The portal to the Nether is built according to a simple scheme, the economical option assumes that no more than ten blocks are required. The usual option will require fourteen blocks. Their location is shown in the title picture.

Step 4

After building a portal frame of any size, it must be set on fire with a flint or fireball. After that, the portal is activated, and a characteristic purple field will appear, through which you need to pass in order to get to the Lower World.

Step 5

It is advisable to take ten blocks of obsidian with you to the Nether to the backup portal, since this way you can return back at any time. Exploration of the Nether is quite dangerous due to the huge amount of lava and aggressive monsters, so the ability to build a transition frame at any time is very important. However, you can destroy the automatically generated portal, just make sure before that that you have a tinderbox with you, because without it, the creation of a functioning portal is impossible.
