To separate the room from the hallway, a door is not required at all. You can limit yourself to a curtain. By the way, at first, the curtains were hung on the door, and the windows began to be closed with them much later. In this case, one object performs several functions: it closes the room from prying eyes and at the same time decorates it.

It is necessary

  • - thick double-sided fabric;
  • - fringe;
  • - tailor's line;
  • - tailor's square;
  • - chalk or soap;
  • - a needle;
  • - threads;
  • - sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

Consider fastening before sewing. You can use a curtain rod that hangs at the top of the door. Please note that the curtain should easily move away, because the passage should be free. In this case, the cornice will be low, you can always reach it with your hand. Therefore, complex adaptations are not necessary. Buy the easiest one. You can also do so that the curtain does not move along the cornice. Then think about which grips to use. They can be in the form of plastic, wooden or metal hooks, behind which the curtain is laid. You can also make loops with Velcro or buttons.

Step 2

Measure the door and calculate the fabric. With a fabric width of 140-150 cm, one length is enough for you. You can, of course, make a double curtain, especially if it hangs between rooms, and the fabric is one-sided. In this case, two lengths are required. Do not forget about the hem allowance. The curtain can be with a lambrequin. Add the length of the lambrequin to the total length of the curtain. The hem allowance depends on the thickness of the fabric and its flow properties. Do not forget that you will have to bend at the top and bottom. For side cuts, it is better to use edges.

Step 3

Cut out a curtain. Mark the starting point on the edge, setting aside the allowance. From this point, measure along the edge of the same length of the curtain and put another point. Using a tailor's square, draw a perpendicular through this point. Extend the line to the second edge. Add the top stock.

Step 4

Fold in the top and bottom seam allowances 0.5 cm to the wrong side and press. Fold them back and iron again, then baste and stitch 0.2 cm from the hem.

Step 5

First fold double-sided curtains right sides together and sew side seams. Turn the product inside out, fold the upper allowance inward and stitch. In this case, you do not need to bend it a second time. Fold the bottom allowance inward and iron. Insert fringe between layers, baste and stitch.

Step 6

When sewing a single curtain, it may be necessary to close the hem. Baste and stitch on the fringe. On the other hand, you can sew on the matching braid.

Step 7

The door curtain should be in harmony with the other draperies in the room. These may not necessarily be window shades. You can make it from the same fabric as the sofa bedspread.

Step 8

To grip, cut a strip 40-50 cm long from the same fabric as the curtain. Its width can be very different, but not less than 8 cm. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and iron the fold. Then fold each half in half again so that the free edges are inside. Iron and stitch the stitch. Close the edges in a convenient way. Stepping back 5-10 cm from one edge, sew a piece of Velcro or a button. At the other end, make a loop or sew on a second piece of Velcro. Attach the clip to a door frame or wall.
