The box is one of those DIY things using old CDs. Choose from the two suggested the option you like the most. The first thing is created from pieces of discs, for the second one does not need to be cut, it is enough to sheathe them with cloth.
Shiny Mosaic Box
To do this thing, you need a foundation. This can be a box with a lid made of plastic, hardboard or similar material. Depending on its size, you need to take 3-5 discs. Here's what else you need to cook:
- sharp scissors;
- PVA glue;
- felt-tip pen;
- paper for the template.
Place the top of the box on a piece of paper and outline it. Now draw the desired pattern on the surface of the sheet. It is better if there are few details in it. It could be a rose, butterfly, or something similar. Divide the resulting art into several sectors with a felt-tip pen, you can do this right away without drawing a picture. After that, proceed in one of the ways suggested below.
Attach the stencil to the window with a disk on it. Redraw the boundaries of the sectors to disk. On one, they are unlikely to fit, you will take as much as necessary. You can go this way if the discs are transparent, if not, use another method.
Draw each sector on paper, attach it to the disk, outline and cut out. The main thing is to lay out the parts in the right sequence so as not to get confused. When you cut out a fragment from the disc, immediately grease it with PVA glue, glue it in place. Start at the edges of one side and work your way up to the opposite edge. Glue rectangular pieces of the desired height to the sides of the gizmo. When the glue is dry, gently wipe off the remnants of the felt-tip pen lines with an alcohol-based product. The iridescent CD box is ready.
Textile option
If you don't feel like cutting discs into pieces, take 2 whole discs and make a cloth box out of them. Take the canvas, fold it in half, placing a disk between the layers, pinch off in two or three places with a pin, draw a circle with a pencil or a small pencil, stepping back from the edges of the LED by 3 mm. Bring the workpiece to the sewing machine, sew along the markings.
Use scissors to cut the workpiece so that the same allowance is obtained from the edges of the CD in all directions, equal to the height of your future disc box. From CD to the edge of the canvas, draw ray lines that divide this part of the fabric into equal sectors. Sew along the marked markings.
Take syndepon or cotton wool, stuff the sector data tightly with any of these materials. With a thread threaded into a needle, sew the entire outer circle of the fabric base, tighten the thread. You have got a blank with a round bottom and lush sides.
Make a lid. To do this, put a disc on the fabric, outline it from all sides by 1.5 cm of its contours, cut it out. Sew the edges of the fabric on your hands without removing the disc, pull off the thread. Sew along the edge of the lace. Cut a second piece equal to the disc, sew to the first blind stitch so that the lace remains outside. Sew on or tape the lid to the bottom and use the CD box as a cosmetic bag or store jewelry, jewelry in it.
