Mugs are devices for fishing with live bait. They are flat discs, painted in different colors, on which a fishing line with a metal lead and a live bait is wound. The fish grabs the bait, turns the circle over and this gives a signal to the angler. You can make pike mugs at home.
Instructions
Step 1
To do this, a disc with a diameter of 15 cm is cut out of polystyrene or a board. Its thickness should be no more than 2-3 cm. A 15 mm through hole is made in the center for a pin. A groove up to 10 mm deep is cut along the entire circumference along the rib. And on one edge, a small slot is made to secure the fishing line.
Step 2
All surface roughness is carefully sanded. Then the circle is impregnated with linseed oil and painted. White is applied to the lower side, and red, orange and other bright colors are chosen for the upper side. This is necessary so that the pike can clearly see the circle from afar. In general, it should resemble a line reel.
Step 3
A wooden peg is made according to the diameter of the through hole, painted in the color of the upper side of the circle with a black vertical stripe in the middle. Fix it in the hole; for a tighter contact, use rubber rings or a plug. The main length of the peg should protrude from the top of the circle. A 15 mm groove is cut out at the tip.
Step 4
Equipped with a circle of strong fishing line up to 15 m long. With a double loop, it is fixed and wound around the diameter in the groove. Then it is inserted into the side slot and held there with a piece of rubber, then it is passed through the groove on the tip of the peg. Then a sliding weight and a pellet are put on the end of the line.
Step 5
The metal leash is equipped with a single hook, tee or double hook, on which a live bait is attached to the back or lip. The leash is attached to the line and lowered into the water. The length of the fishing line lowered from the circle must be measured so that the live bait can swim almost at the very bottom. The pike mug is ready for fishing.
