It is necessary

  • - a piece of wood;
  • - vice;
  • - hacksaws;
  • - chisels;
  • - drill;
  • - sanding paper;
  • - compasses;
  • - pencil;
  • - rasp;
  • - cork;
  • - fishing line;
  • - hooks;
  • - leashes.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you should choose wood and dry it thoroughly in a dry, dark place. Depending on the initial condition of the tree, its species and the size of the workpiece, drying can take from six months to a year. Take your time, you should start working with absolutely dry material.

Step 2

After the tree has dried, remove the bark and use an electric saw to cut the disc blanks. You can make a cut both longitudinal and transverse. Trim the workpiece with a hacksaw and clamp it in a vice, give the wooden part a round shape. Then, with a chisel and a rasp, make a groove around the circumference for the future winding of the fishing line, round the edges for easy winding of the fishing line during the bite.

Step 3

Drill a through hole in the very center of the disc with a drill, the diameter should be slightly larger than the thickest part of the mast. Insert a wine stopper into the prepared hole, in which a hole should also be drilled, the diameter of which should coincide with the thickness of the mast five centimeters from the head. Make slant cuts on the top side of the workpiece with a line knife.

Step 4

Carefully sand the insert cutouts, both sides of the mug and cork insert with fine grit sandpaper. Do not leave roughness and burrs on the wooden workpiece, the surface must be absolutely smooth.

Step 5

When making the mast, make sure that it tapers evenly at the top and is level. Make a faceted or round mast in cross-section, the size and shape of the head should be in harmony with the size of the wooden disc. Remove the cork insert and boil the mast with the disc in drying oil. If there are cracks in the wood, prime them with putty. When the workpiece is dry, paint it with water resistant oil paints. Put the bushing back in place and secure with glue.

Step 6

It remains only to equip the circle with fishing line, which should be fixed on the end groove. Attach leashes and triple hooks with a long shank to the free ends of the line.
