This talented journalist of the "old school" was able to become the founder of the TV-6 channel, the president of the National Association of Radio Broadcasters, a professor and doctor of political science. This Soviet and Russian public figure received the title of laureate of the USSR State Prize (1978), was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland IV degree and Friendship of Peoples (2006), and Order of Merit to the Fatherland III degree (2011). Eduard Mikhailovich received a special TEFI prize (2002), became a laureate of the Manager of Russia-2004 and Telegrand-2005 awards.

Eduard Mikhailovich Salagaev was born in Samarkand (Uzbek SSR) on October 3, 1946. After graduating from high school, an ordinary tomboy was able to enter Samarkand State University and successfully complete it. While still studying at the Faculty of Philology, our hero performed on the stage of the drama theater and as a radio announcer.

In 1967, a talented journalist graduated from a thematic university and headed the Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting at the local regional executive committee. And two years later he entered the department of party life of the newspaper Leninsky Put. In the period 1972-1973. Salagaev works as an executive secretary for the Tashkent newspaper Komsomolets Uzbekistan.

And then there was an invitation to Moscow and the realization of his remarkable abilities as a professional and organizer in the press sector of the Central Committee of the Komsomol. In 1975, Eduard Mikhailovich successfully graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences and became deputy editor-in-chief in the youth editorial office of television. And already five years later, the position of editor-in-chief at the Yunost radio station was mastered.

The next stage in the career of our hero four years later was the post of editor-in-chief in the youth edition of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. With his active assistance, such popular programs as "Look" and "Twelfth Floor" were created.

From 1988 to 1990, a successful journalist worked as editor-in-chief in the information department and deputy chairman of the USSR State Radio and Television. At this time, he is in charge of the television program "Time" and hosts the program "Seven Days". And then there was the post of head of the Union of Journalists of the USSR and the post of general director of the TV-6 channel. In parallel with this, he became a People's Deputy of the USSR.

In the "dashing nineties," Salagaev, together with former US President Jimmy Carter, heads the International Commission on Television and Radio Broadcasting, whose goals are to systematize information and organize this business sector. At the same time, he served as general director of Ostankino for six months, but due to disagreements with state authorities on the future development of television, he leaves this post and organizes the Moscow Independent Broadcasting Corporation.

In 1993, Eduard Mikhailovich became the president of the TV-6 channel and the head of its board of directors. Three years later, he is actively involved in the creation of the National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters, which he subsequently heads. At the same time, he was elected a member of the Academy of Russian Television. After working at TV-6 and short-term posts at VGTRK and ORT, the journalist founded the non-profit Eduard Salagaev Foundation in 2001.

In 2006, by decree of the President of Russia, Eduard Mikhailovich headed the subcommittee on electronic media in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation of the first convocation. And three years later, he released the television programs Mystical Travels (TNT channel) and Encyclopedia of Errors of Eduard Salagaev (Psychology 21 cable channel).

Today, the eminent journalist has left active work on television, which allowed him to delve into the world of travel to the most interesting corners of the Earth.
