Instructions
Step 1
In order to make a poncho, you need to use the technique of knitting raglan sleeves, which will allow you to get a product without a single seam. You will have to start knitting from the neck, therefore, for the calculations, you will need to measure the neck circumference. Before starting work, be sure to tie the pattern for calculating the loops. To do this, cast on 20 stitches on the knitting needles and knit 20 rows with the front stitch (reverse side - purl stitches). Wash the sample obtained, flatten it on a flat surface and dry it. Make calculations to determine the number of loops. In the final calculations, keep in mind that the raglan model assumes component joint parts, which require an even number of loops.
Step 2
Cast on 48 stitches. Knit 1st row with front stitch, 2nd row with purl loops. 3rd row knit according to the scheme: * 6 front loops (right shelf), 1 yarn, 2 front loops, 1 yarn (front groove of the right sleeve), 8 front loops (right sleeve), 1 yarn, 2 front loops, 1 yarn (back beard of the right sleeve), 12 front loops (back), 1 yarn, 2 front loops, 1 yarn (back groove of the left sleeve), 8 front loops (left sleeve), 1 yarn, 2 front loops, 1 yarn (front groove left sleeve), 6 front loops (left shelf) *. Knit 4th row with purl loops. The most important thing is not to get confused exactly in the 3rd row, strictly observing the scheme. For convenience, mark the places where the product expands with threads of a different color, which will greatly facilitate knitting at the initial stage.
Step 3
Continue to knit the odd rows of the front stitch, making the yarn over only through each front row, that is, in the 7th, 11th, 15th, etc. ranks. Knit all even rows according to the pattern, that is, with purl loops. This method will give a uniform expansion of the poncho, which, in addition, will have beautiful grooves in the raglan sleeves. As you knit and try on, determine the length of the product for yourself, then complete the last row.
Step 4
To knit the hood, cast on 48 loops from the neck to the knitting needles and knit with the front stitch (so that it is outside). Knit the reverse side with purl loops. At the final height of the hood, divide the total number of stitches into 3 sections, each of which will be 18 pieces. Leave the middle (back) part of the hood on the main knitting needles, and fold the side ones to the auxiliary needles. Continue to knit the middle section, gradually knitting in the loops of the side pieces (just like knitting the heel of a toe).
Step 5
Tie the resulting product with a simple column around the entire perimeter (hood, trims, hem) 2-3 times. Sew a zipper into the slats. Decorate the bottom of the poncho with brushes (preferably not very long). Make a cord to match the product, insert it into the neck and make lush tassels or pompons.
