All cylindrical objects can be drawn by drawing ovals along the axis of symmetry. Using this technique, you can depict not only vases and columns of buildings, but also wind musical instruments, for example, flutes.
Instructions
Step 1
Begin your drawing by drawing an auxiliary line corresponding to the flute's axis of symmetry.
Step 2
Mark the beginning and end of the tool on the line. Draw straight lines through these points, perpendicular to the axis of symmetry. The pitch of the sound depends on the selected length of the flute.
Step 3
Select the thickness of the tool. On the perpendicular lines, mark the points corresponding to half the thickness. Draw an oval going through them.
Step 4
Connect the outermost points of the ovals on each side of the line of symmetry. If the flute has inserts or blocks in the head, draw larger auxiliary ovals. Select these areas with cross lines.
Step 5
If you are drawing a longitudinal type flute, depict a lip attachment, it looks like a short mouthpiece and is located at one of the ends of the cylinder. Such an instrument looks like a regular pipe with holes. If you want to depict a transverse type flute, round one of the ends and draw a hole for the lips on the side surface.
Step 6
Draw holes on the side of the tool. On a regular flute, there are seven of them on one side and one on the other. The size of the holes corresponds to the diameter of the cavity in the tool.
Step 7
Keep in mind that if you are drawing a longitudinal flute that is applied to the lips with the side part, it must be equipped with valves that open and close as you play. The valves are round in shape and are mounted on a leg. They are usually located in one line, but there are flutes with a non-linear valve arrangement.

Start coloring the picture. Remember that the simplest longitudinal flutes are made from wood and can be painted in a variety of colors. Modern valve instruments are made of metal. In any case, keep in mind that the tool is based on an elongated cylinder, so you need to depict an area of light, penumbra and shadow on it. Highlight the highlight and reflex on the subject.
