With the help of fabric dyes, which are sold today in almost every stationery store, you can make an original drawing on clothes, being sure that no one will have a second such thing. Check out some practical tips on how to apply acrylics to your fabric.
Instructions
Step 1
Paints based on water-based acrylic dispersion are best applied to cotton and silk fabrics - it is on them that the paint adheres well and it is convenient to work with these fabrics.
Step 2
Before you start working with paints, wash and iron the garment well, and then stretch it over the frame or spread it on a hard surface, such as a table. To prevent paint from spoiling the back side of the thing, place a sheet of thick cardboard or oilcloth between the front and back sides of the thing.
Step 3
Draw with a fabric felt-tip pen, or use a simple pencil. In the latter case, you will have to paint over the contours of the drawing made with a pencil, because the lead is not easily washed off the fabric.
Step 4
After making a rough drawing, mix the paints thoroughly and start painting the workpiece. Use different sizes of art brushes for your work. An acrylic thinner can be used to reduce the color intensity of paints.
Step 5
After the drawing is ready, the painting should be dried for 12 - 24 hours until the paint is completely dry, and then ironed with an iron without using steam. In this case, a fabric should be laid between the front and back sides of the thing, after taking out the cardboard or oilcloth that was used earlier.
Step 6
48 hours after ironing, a gentle wash is allowed at a temperature of 30-40 ° C, using mild detergents and not subjecting the fabric to strong mechanical processing.
