Step 1
First of all, decide how much you can spend on buying a vehicle. Then study several models of snowmobiles (look on the Internet, go shopping) and make a list of the copies that interest you in terms of technical characteristics, appearance, etc. Only after that start looking through advertisements for sale in newspapers and on the Internet. In addition, visit the salons selling used cars, car markets. If necessary, arrange an appointment where you can take a close look at the equipment.
Step 2
When inspecting a snowmobile you like, pay attention to its appearance: how the seat, casing, windshield, etc. looks like. Talk to the owner: ask him about the mileage, about the condition of the car, whether it has had an accident. Find out if there were any problems with the operation, inquire about the peculiarities of the behavior of this particular vehicle, etc. Give preference to the original snowmobile and be careful about the one that was "improved" by the previous owner, as this may cause problems in the future.
Step 3
Examine the tracks carefully. Pay attention to their edge: if the edges are frayed, pieces of rubber or cords sticking out of it. In the case of a studded track, check if the stud has pierced it and what is the general condition of the studs. If they are destroyed and the snowmobile has low mileage, this indicates poor performance, and you should further inspect more carefully and lower the price so that new tracks can be purchased.
Step 4
Pay attention to the link rods. They should not be bent, otherwise this may indicate a strong impact of the snowmobile on some object (tree, stump, etc.) and, as a consequence, about changing the steering setting.
Step 5
Check if everything is in order in the engine compartment: if the drive belt is in good condition, if there are nicks and cracks in the hoses, etc. Start the snowmobile and listen to the engine running.
