Winter fishing is very popular with fishing enthusiasts. People are ready to sit by the holes for days even in very cold weather, which can lead not only to a common cold, but also to frostbite and other serious consequences.

Instructions

Step 1

A Siberian proverb says that a Siberian is not someone who does not freeze, but who dresses well. This rule is completely true in relation to fishing - in order to feel comfortable while fishing, you should dress correctly.

Step 2

Choose clothes according to your fishing style. For example, in sports fishing, a fisherman moves a lot around the reservoir, looking for catchy places, he has to make quite a lot of physical effort to drill holes. Under these conditions, it is very easy to sweat, which can later easily lead to hypothermia. Therefore, the sports angler should be able to throw off part of his outer clothing during active physical efforts in order to put it on again later.

Step 3

A completely different kind of clothing is needed for someone who prefers to spend a long time in one place. Almost complete immobility at the hole makes you dress very warmly, the angler needs high fur boots or felt boots, warm wadded pants and an equally warm jacket, a hat with earflaps and mittens. Shoes must be waterproof. If from time to time the angler has to kneel down at the hole, waterproof inserts should be sewn onto the pants, in the knee area.

Step 4

Sit on a special fishing box. Anglers often make it themselves, sometimes combining it with a sled. The box must be made of wood, since metal or plastic has too much thermal conductivity, it is cold to sit on such materials. If the wind is blowing, protect the fishing area with a small snow wall or fish in a tent.

Step 5

Going fishing, be sure to take a thermos with hot tea with you, it will always help you keep warm. But strong drinks on fishing are absolutely contraindicated. Alcohol gives the illusion of warmth, dilating small blood vessels - blood rushes to the skin, a person seems to stop freezing. But this happens due to heat loss inside the body, so the angler finds himself in a rather dangerous situation. He urgently needs to return to warmth or drink hot tea to restore the thermal balance of the body. If this is not done, the risk of freezing increases significantly, especially considering that a drunk person can simply fall asleep.

Step 6

Always take matches or a lighter for winter fishing, or better, both. It is quite possible that you will urgently need to warm up - for example, if you fall through the ice. Matches in this situation can get wet, so a lighter can help out. Keep in mind that a wet person freezes very quickly in the cold, you need to build a fire within the first ten to fifteen minutes. Otherwise, it may happen that frozen fingers simply refuse to obey. Even if you have a match or a lighter, you will not be able to use them.

Step 7

Saline heating pads are a good option for emergency treatment. Such a heating pad is a small plastic bag with a liquid saline solution and a stick with a catalyst in it. By slightly breaking the stick, you start the process of crystallization of the solution, accompanied by the release of heat. It is enough to warm chilled hands in cold weather. The saline heating pad can be restored to its original state by boiling in water for 10-15 minutes.
