Mirror - for centuries, people have peered into the shimmering depth of this difficult object, which has now become familiar, mundane and even a little boring. And if you dream a little? A little paint, colored glass, gilding, and an old mirror in a new original frame can become just that small but necessary accent that will give a familiar and boring interior a new bright sound.
It is necessary
- Paints, colored glass, glue, grout.
- For the "gilded frame": acrylic paints, gilding wax, leaf, leaf glue, acrylic varnish.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not despair if you are not one of the lucky ones who have a rich imagination and are able to brilliantly embody what they have invented with a brush and paints. Do it easier. Finding a suitable plot, and making a stencil is not so difficult. And then - a wide field of activity, especially since buying everything you need now is not at all a problem. The easiest option is to work with a stencil. You can find a suitable plot in a magazine or children's pictures for coloring. Cut out the picture you like along the contour, and the stencil is ready. Apply it to the frame and spray paint.
Step 2
A slightly more complicated option is to decorate the frame with a mosaic. Purchase mosaic elements in advance - colored glass, pieces of ceramics and porcelain (you can buy them at Skillful Hands). Rub over the surface of the frame with sandpaper. Use a stencil to apply the pattern. Lubricate large areas of the pattern with glue and gradually lay them out with colored glass. Leave the finished drawing to dry for 5 - 6 hours. Purchase a special grout from a hardware store. Cover the surface of the mirror with adhesive tape. The grout should fill the gaps between the tiles. You can add a little paint to it to match the picture. Apply a thick layer of grout to the mosaic, and then gently wipe off with a sponge.
Step 3
Gold plated frame. Paint the frame brown. Prepare a stencil and use it to paint the design onto the frame with light brown paint. After 15 minutes, apply glue to the dried paint. It should dry slightly, but still be sticky. Apply gold leaf to the glue. You can give the frame an aging effect. To do this, lightly rub over the surface with fine sandpaper. Finish the edges of the frame with gilding wax. Cover the surface with acrylic varnish.
