A self-made soft toy according to a non-standard sketch can be a wonderful gift for both a child and an adult. To sew a cat toy, you need to have an idea of the pattern, be able to handle a thread and a needle and fantasize.

It is necessary

  • - several types of fabrics of different colors and textures;
  • - filler for toys (cotton wool, pieces of material, synthetic winterizer);
  • - paper for patterns;
  • - pins;
  • - thread, needle;
  • - decorative elements.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a pattern - on a piece of paper, draw a sketch of a cat toy and determine how many parts you need. Take a sheet of thin paper (tracing paper or graph paper), draw the outline of the pattern on it, then cut out the finished sketches. In order to make a cat, you will need two parts of the head, two halves of the body, two elements of the tail.

Step 2

Determine what material the body of the cat will be made of, and from which you will make the head and tail. Attach the pattern to the fabric with pins, cut out the details along the outline, leaving room for the seams.

Step 3

Connect the tail pieces and sew them together. Leave room for the filler on one side and twist the tail out with a pencil or stick of a suitable size.

Step 4

Connect the two halves of the head together, sew along the contour, leaving room in the neck area in order to fill the toy and attach it to the body. Since you will be embroidering some of the details of the face, you need to do this before you fill your head.

Step 5

Sew on large buttons or beads instead of eyes (you can make an applique of two circles of different sizes and colors), sew your mouth with a red thread in the form of an inverted crescent, and make a nose from a piece of black leather or velvet.

Step 6

Turn the finished head inside out and attach it to the upper torso. Join the two halves of the torso and sew them together, leaving a small hole for the stuffing.

Step 7

Turn the head and torso out, fill with the prepared stuffing material, sew the hole with a blind stitch.

Step 8

Sew on the tail with neat stitches, straighten the toy with your hands.

Step 9

Finish the decoration of the cat. From thin pieces of soft leather, make mustache strips - they can be hemmed to the face or glued. Decorate the cat ears and tail end with faux fur pieces.
