Paper garlands are a wonderful decor option when you need to quickly, beautifully and originally decorate the interior for the holiday. The ideas of "quick" garlands from improvised means for all kinds of corporate events are especially relevant, however, with a successful selection of material, they can also be used to decorate more sophisticated techniques. And cute "vintage" garlands from old newspapers will add a special charm to the room of a romantic person. There are many ways to make a beautiful paper garland.
It is necessary
- - paper (white, colored, corrugated) / old newspapers or magazines / postcards;
- - glue, tape;
- - scissors;
- - threads;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
The first way is to fold the garland using origami technique. Cut sheets of multi-colored A4 paper into strips 3.5 cm wide. You can make a rainbow garland - in this case, cut strips of paper of seven colors of the rainbow (each link of the garland consists of two strips of the same color). The exact number of elements can be found out only in the process of work, because it depends on the length of each particular garland.
Step 2
Glue two long strips together, connecting elements of different colors in series. In this case, elements of the same color should be located on long stripes with a shift of one link. For example, for a rainbow garland, glue the first strip, arranging the colors in the usual order: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple. And the second - with a shift of one color: orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, purple, red.
Step 3
Fold the ends of the two strips to form a 90-degree angle and glue. Begin folding the garland (it is more convenient - on the floor), alternately bending the long strips in the direction opposite to their original position. As a result, the stripes will be woven into a kind of multi-colored "braid".
Step 4
The essence of the second method is to connect the elements cut from paper to each other in a garland on a sewing machine. Cut out small strips, circles, hearts, or other motifs that you come up with from colored paper, old postcards, magazines or newspapers.
Step 5
Using a sewing machine with a regular straight stitch, connect all the elements in a long garland. You can lay the elements one to one, or leave arbitrary distances between them, laying in between the lines "in the air".
Step 6
When hanging such a garland from the ceiling, twist the thread several times in the same direction - due to this, all the elements will hang in the air at different angles, which will create a more interesting airy effect.
Step 7
The third method is good for cases when you need an unusual and very effective design. It is quite laborious due to the fact that for the manufacture of a garland you will need a huge number of elements, which are sheets of paper rolled into conical tubes. Fortunately, the tubes themselves roll up quickly and easily.
Step 8
Roll up the tubes from plain white paper and secure them at the narrower end with tape or thread. Tie a garland from many tubes, while grabbing the narrow ends of the tubes with a strong thread. For such a garland, pages of magazines and newspapers or aged paper are also suitable.
