If your favorite jeans are too small for you, do not rush to throw them away. It is not difficult to make a truly designer thing out of them. The main thing is to show your imagination. And if the difference in size is small, then you can simply enlarge the jeans without significantly changing their familiar and dear look.
It is necessary
- - fabric for insertion (contrasting jeans, imitation leather or suede, brocade, dense corduroy)
- - a piece of denim to match or a similar shade;
- - threads to match the finishing threads on jeans;
- - working threads to match the color of jeans;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Peel off the logo over the back right pocket from the jeans. Unfasten the belt. Cut off the three back loops from the waistband. Parse very carefully without breaking the integrity of the fabric.
Step 2
Open the side seams of the legs. In classic jeans, the inner seam is flat and the side seams are sewn in the usual way, so it won't be difficult to open them.
Step 3
From the additional fabric, cut a strip 2.5-3 cm wide. From this width, 0.5 cm on each side will go into allowances. The length of the piece is equal to the length of the legs.
Step 4
Sew the long side cut out to the back of the jeans with a seam. The seam threads must be exactly the same color as the main finishing stitching on the jeans. If you are unable to match the thread color, use a regular seam stitch.
Step 5
Turn the jeans inside out and sew the second long side of the insert to the front of the legs. Use a seam for this.
Step 6
In classic jeans, the front pockets are usually decorated with branded studs. The rivets on the jeans near the side seam are very close to the edge of the fabric and will prevent the sewing machine foot from moving smoothly. Therefore, make a small gap in the machine seam in the area of the side rivets, and then sew this place by hand.
Step 7
Turn the jeans right over. Now each leg is 1, 5-2 cm wider.
Step 8
Cut the belt across in the place where the company label was sewn on it. This is where you will insert denim to increase the length of the waistband.
Step 9
Cut a piece of the denim to the correct length so that the waistband matches the new width of the jeans. Baste it over your jeans. Try it on.
Step 10
Sew the insert on the sewing machine. Smooth it out. Try on the belt around the waist and mark out the back belt loops. As the length of the belt has changed, the location of these parts will also change. Sew the top ends of the belt loops to the top edge of the waistband.
Step 11
Tie the belt over your jeans. Sew on the lower ends of the belt loops. Hide the insert on the belt under the branded label. Sew it on by hand, simulating the machine stitch with a back stitch. Try to stick the needle exactly into the old puncture sites.
