If you have finally found a long-awaited pattern of the desired dress, sundress or other outfit, but it turned out that it does not fit you in size, do not be upset. Use the old, simple, and very reliable way to scale up a drawing or drawing using squares.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a sheet with a finished pattern. Draw it into squares of equal size. To make the pattern more accurate, draw smaller squares.
Step 2
Draw squares on a blank sheet of paper, too, but of a larger size. If you need to double the size of the pattern, then double the size of the squares. For example: on the first sheet of squares with a side of 1 cm, then on the second sheet make squares of 2 cm. Copy the pattern from the first sheet to the second, accurately transferring all directions of the lines. Cut out the resulting pattern.
Step 3
If you need to enlarge the pattern of the garment, then copy the pattern you need from the magazine. Check the measurements: waist circumference, chest, hips, neck, back and front width, back length. Compare the measurements of the finished pattern with yours. The difference is the size of your increments. Cut the finished (paper) patterns along the appropriate lines to fit the patterns.
Step 4
Then move the parts of the pattern apart by the size you need. For example, you need to increase the width of the pattern parts. To do this, divide the entire magnitude of the increase into 4 equal parts (into the right and left parts of the back and front).
Step 5
And if you need to increase the volume of the product along the chest line and along the waist line by 4 cm, then expand the back and front details by 1 cm (expand the entire pattern by 1 cm from the waist line to the shoulder line). Correct all lines. Get a larger pattern. To fix the resulting changes, glue paper under this pattern. Elongate the details of the bodice along the line that is located between the lines of the chest and waist.
Step 6
If you need to enlarge the armhole, then make the increase along the line shown in the figure with a dotted line. If you change the pattern of the armhole, do not forget to change the pattern of the sleeve.
