In a hot summer, you don't want to put on clothes with a complex cut and many decorative details. Modern fashion trends place greater emphasis on the beauty of natural fabrics and simplicity of cut. A sundress is traditionally summer clothing, its loose fit involves the use of light fabrics, decorated with bright large patterns or designs. It can be complemented with a belt or belt to emphasize a thin waist and slim figure.
It is necessary
- Fabric - chintz, cambric, satin - 2.5 meters with a width of 90 cm
- A sheet of paper for patterns
Instructions
Step 1
Measure your back and chest width. Transfer the pattern of the upper part of the sundress to paper, taking into account these parameters and cut out two parts A, B and C from the material. This will be the yoke and the straps of your future sundress.
Step 2
Cut out two trapezoids 1 meter high. The length of the lower base is 90 cm, make the upper base of the trapezoid different. For the back of the sundress, it should be equal to the width of the back plus 2 cm, and for the front, half the girth of the chest plus 6 cm. Do not forget to add 1 cm from all sides of the patterns to the seams.
Step 3
Sew the top of the back of the sundress with a long stitch and gather it to the width of the yoke. Fold both details of the back of the yoke (detail A) with the wrong side out, insert the back of the sundress between them and sew, stepping back to the width of the seam.
Step 4
In the front panel, make a couple of large tucks on each side, 5 cm away from the middle of part B. Adjust their depth so that the width of the upper part of the front panel coincides with the width of the lower edge of the front yoke. Fold both parts of the front yoke (detail B) with the wrong side out, insert the front panel of the sundress between them and sew, stepping back to the width of the seam.
Step 5
Iron the yoke and the sewn-on panels of the front and back of the sundress, stitch the seams along the front of the yoke, retreating by 0.1 cm.
Step 6
Stitch the side seams starting from the top of the sundress, iron them and align to the length. Hem the hem back 2 cm. Fold C in half, fold the long edges inward and stitch along the long side on both sides.
Step 7
Hand sew the upper parts of the front and back yoke with a large stitch, folding the edges of parts A and B inward. Mark the locations and adjust the length of the sundress straps. Insert them between the details of the back and front of the yoke, slightly back up the hand seam. Secure them with a basting and then stitch the top seam back 0.1 cm from the edge.
