Before sewing a sundress, decide on the model, color and length of the future product. The ideal option is to draw a sketch of it and download a ready-made pattern of a similar model. With this preparatory work, you will be able to estimate the sewing difficulty and the amount of fabric required. The option below assumes a minimum of work and a maximum of fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

Cut a few pieces out of the fabric. Firstly, two one and a half or two meter stripes - of which you will decorate the bodice of the dress. Then there are four semicircles with a cut out center (when combined, the cutout will correspond to the girth of your waist, and the radius to the length of the legs), which will serve as a skirt of a sundress and two belt parts (the length of each part in the waist circumference, width 3-4 cm). Each piece is cut out taking into account the seam allowances.

Step 2

Fold and overcast the edges of the parts (except for the belt) with an overlock. Lay the details of the belt one on top of the other, facing inward, sew along two narrow sides and one wide. Turn the belt out.

Step 3

Sew the skirt to the waistband, bending over the edges and slightly sinking the waist into the waistband. Make sure the edges of the belt and skirt match. Insert a zipper into the side or back seam before finishing sewing.

Step 4

Sew the edges of the bodice stripes to the front of the skirt symmetrically, gather together if necessary. The sundress is ready. This model can be called a designer sundress, because by raising or lowering the waistline, you can adjust the length of the skirt, and the long bodice stripes can be folded, twisted and tied in many different ways, if only there was enough imagination.
