Lavender is a valuable aromatic and ornamental plant that, with proper care, will become an irreplaceable part of the decor and adornment of any interior. And the scent of blooming lavender will refresh the atmosphere at home and fill it with a fresh scent that has antimicrobial and antibacterial effects.
It is necessary
Lavender seeds, pot or container, soil (consisting of a mixture of peat and sand), drainage (rubble, pebbles and pebbles)
Instructions
Step 1
Seed preparation
Before placing lavender seeds in the soil, they must be prepared and allowed to "ripen". To do this, lay lavender seeds with sand and sawdust in a small container. Then they are placed in a cool place for a month.
Step 2
Container for fragrant lavender
To grow lavender, use a ceramic pot or plastic container that will have a volume of about 2 liters and a diameter of 30 - 35 cm. Make additional holes to drain excess moisture and place in a tray. Place at the bottom of the container: gravel, crushed stone, gravel chips and pebbles. Make sure the drainage holes are working well.
Step 3
The soil
The seeds are planted in alkaline soil to a depth of 2 - 3 mm. A mixture of sand and peat is ideal for lavender. Lavender does not tolerate clay and acidic soil, but to make it more alkaline, simply add a small amount of natural lime, wood ash or eggshells to the mixture of sand and peat.
Step 4
Lavender care
The plant is very fond of light, so it is better to place a container with a flower on the sunniest and warmest side, and in the summer you can take it out to the balcony. It is necessary to water lavender every day, in small quantities and with settled water. The best time to water is early in the morning. The soil should be slightly damp. At the end of summer, when the lavender has faded, dry stems and leaves should be removed, and the bush itself should be trimmed a little. Trimming the bush in this way contributes to the best flowering of lavender next year.
