Online shopping is more and more in demand. And this is not surprising, because after spending just a few minutes of your time, you can buy a thing that you have long dreamed of, but could not find in ordinary stores in your city. If the buyer lives in a big city with courier delivery, then the parcel is delivered within three days by courier, while residents of small towns, villages and villages are forced to use mail. Storing a parcel in the post office is not always a free pleasure.

The delivery time of a parcel can vary significantly, even if the first parcel arrived from one online store in 10 days, this does not mean that the second one will arrive at the post office in 10 days. There are many factors affecting the speed of delivery, these are holidays / weekends, and the workload of mail, and the chosen delivery method, etc. Therefore, if you are going to leave somewhere in the near future (vacation, business trip), but before leaving you want to receive a parcel, you should take this into account and make your order with a margin of time.

After the parcel arrives at the post office, from where the addressee must pick it up, the addressee is given a notice on the day of arrival of the parcel or the next day (depending on the arrival of the cargo, if it arrived before lunchtime, then the notice is brought on the same day, if after lunch - the next), which the recipient needs to fill out and exchange for the parcel. If five days after the notification was sent, the addressee did not pick up the parcel, a second notice is sent to him, and at this stage it depends whether the parcel will be paid for the next days or not.

So, if the second notice was simply put in the mailbox, and not handed in personally, then the parcel will be in the mail for another 25 days absolutely free of charge, and the recipient can come and pick it up at any time without paying a penny for storage. Five days before the end of the storage period, the last - the third notice is sent to the addressee (of course, this notice is issued only if the shipment continues to be in the mail warehouse). If the parcel remains unclaimed, then it is sent back to the sender.

If the repeated notice was handed in personally, and the addressee put his signature on the spine of the notice, then starting from the sixth day a fee will be charged for storing the parcel in the mail. The storage fee depends on the tariff at the time of receipt of the parcel (you can find out the tariffs both in your post office and on the official website of the Russian Post - https://www.pochta.ru/, or by calling the support service at 8-800 -2005-888).

However, it is worth considering that the fee depends on the size of the parcel; in 2017, most post offices charge about 20 rubles for storing small packages, and 30 rubles for medium ones. That is, for 10 days of storage, you will need to pay 200 or 300 rubles, respectively, in general, as you can see, the pleasure is not cheap. Therefore, in order not to lose extra money, it is better to pick up the parcel as early as possible. It is worth remembering that if, after receiving a repeated notification, the parcel is picked up on the same day, but after lunch, you still have to pay for one day of storage.

From the foregoing, we can conclude that for the first five days any parcel is stored in the mail for free, the rest of the days - depending on whether the addressee was personally notified of the arrival of the parcel or not.
