Chain mail can be weaved independently from metal wire. This does not require special technical skills, since weaving technology came to us from the Middle Ages.
It is necessary
7-8 kg of steel wire 1.5 mm in diameter, a rod with a diameter of 7.5 mm and a length of 30 cm, a vice for the rod, scissors for cutting metal, pliers - 2 pcs, a pair of gloves
Instructions
Step 1
Make a small through hole in the rod to insert the wire into. Secure the rod in a vise. Insert a wire into the hole, and then wind it in a spiral around the rod. You can make a rod in the shape of a skewer, then it will be easier to wind.
Step 2
After you have wrapped the entire length of the rod, remove it from the vise and remove the resulting wire spring. Next, take the pliers and stretch it a little so that the rings are at some distance from each other. It is not necessary to straighten.
Step 3
Take scissors and cut the spiral at the top or bottom. The rings will separate from each other. Prepare a tray for them in advance. Group the rings in groups of five.
Step 4
Tie the ends of the 4 rings together so that there are no gaps in them. Then string them onto the fifth ring. You get a blank with 4 rings on the sides and one in the middle. Make nine of these.
Step 5
Take two blanks and one loose ring from the open-ended tray. Insert into this ring 2 adjacent rings from the first five and 2 more adjacent ones from the second five. Bring the ends of the ring together. You will have a chain mail mesh with three rows (4 rings at the top and bottom and 3 in the middle).
Step 6
Connect this piece of mail with other fives in the same way. You will end up with a long ribbon. Make another tape and then join them together using loose rings as follows. The two outermost lower rings from the first ribbon are threaded together with the two outermost upper rings of the other ribbon into a free ring, etc. It turns out a chain mail fabric.
