The ability to rotate drumsticks is not directly related to the skill of the drummer, but makes a strong impression on the audience watching him. In psychological terms, this is an indicator of the free possession of the instrument and the "friendly" attitude towards it.

Instructions

Step 1

Place your hand palm up. Bend at the elbow, lift the hand to chest level, the fingers should be slightly relaxed, free.

Step 2

Place the stick between the ball of your thumb and the tip of your index finger. The rest (middle, nameless, little finger) rest against the wand with their tips. The center of gravity of the wand should not be directly between the index and thumb, but slightly higher, closer to the wrist.

Step 3

Loosen the pressure with your index finger, pull the wand back a little and push hard with your middle finger. At the same moment, press four fingers (except the thumb) to the palm of your hand until the stick, rotating, goes around the thumb. As a result, the center of gravity will shift slightly, approximately to the level of the clamp between the fingers. If the fingers are left in the starting position, the stick will stumble over them and the turn will not be completed.

Step 4

Close your fingers at the end of the turn, release the stick slightly back to the starting position. Repeat.

Step 5

After some practice, try doing two full rotations around your thumb without stopping or adjusting your center of gravity.
