Lily of the valley has long been a symbol of spring and nature renewal. It appears in late May and blooms until June, exuding a strong, pleasant aroma. This flower is described in the legends of many peoples of the world: in Russia it is associated with the legends of Lyubava and Sadko - supposedly, the tears of the Princess, whom the merchant fell out of love, turned into a lily of the valley. A similar legend exists in Ukraine. Among the ancient Scandinavians, this flower is a symbol of the goddess of the rising sun. Despite its beauty, the lily of the valley looks quite simple and fragile, it is not difficult to draw it.

It is necessary

  • To draw a lily of the valley, you will need:
  • - a simple pencil;
  • - eraser;
  • - paper;
  • - watercolor paints;
  • - brushes;
  • - a glass of water.

Instructions

Step 1

To begin with, take a close look at a photo of a lily of the valley or, if possible, at fresh flowers. You will see that the lily of the valley has smooth, thin stems of medium length, sharp succulent leaves, with clearly visible vertical veins and small light bell flowers. All this you have to transfer to paper.

Step 2

Place the sheet of paper horizontally or vertically, depending on how you are going to place the drawing. Mark the approximate borders of the future image with small strokes so that the drawing does not reach the edges of the sheet.

Step 3

Start drawing with a simple pencil, making light strokes. The first is to draw a stem with a curved top, from which, in its upper half, small branches extend. On them there are flowers of a rounded shape, similar to bells. To make it easier to depict a lily of the valley flower, first draw a small circle, just below the middle, divide the circle with a zigzag line and erase the unnecessary lower part. Well, if you draw several open flowers and 1-2 buds, the buds should be located at the very top of the lily of the valley.

Step 4

Now draw the leaves. In a lily of the valley, they go from the very base, two at one stem. The height of the leaves is slightly higher than that of the stem, the tips are pointed. Highlight the veins to make the leaves look more natural.

Step 5

Erase all unnecessary lines with an eraser and start drawing with paints. Keep in mind that drawing such a graceful flower like lily of the valley is worth a thin brush.

Step 6

The leaves and the bottom of the stem should be made a rich green stem. Towards the top, the color of the stem becomes slightly lighter. In this case, the color transitions should be smooth, unobtrusive.

Step 7

To paint lily of the valley flowers, use white paint to which you need to add water. The drawing should create a feeling of fragility, transparency.

Step 8

Finally, paint a few strokes of brown paint to indicate the ground.
