Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to draw the basic shapes of the lily, omitting the small details. Draw a large oval area with a pencil, sketching the main outline of the flower.

Step 2

The slope of this oval should be the same as the slope of a natural living lily flower. Draw another smaller oval inside it - it will be the center of the flower. Below, sketch out the lines of the stem and leaves.

Step 3

Within the oval, draw with a pencil the outlines of the curved, elongated petals, using a photo of a real lily as an example. All petals should grow from the central oval - the core.

Step 4

The sharp tips of the petals can slightly protrude beyond the large oval outline - this will give the lily a realistic appearance. Despite the fact that all the petals of the lily are the same, there is perspective in the drawing, and you need to draw the near petals larger than the far ones. Also, all the petals are bent in different ways - some are bent outward strongly, and some show their full length.

Step 5

Work on the petals - draw their borders more clearly, outline the center lines of the grooves in the petals. They should overlap each other slightly at slightly different heights.

Step 6

Detail the stem - add the silhouettes of the leaves on it. In the center of the lily, draw in detail the stamens and pistils.

Step 7

To make the petals look more authentic, draw characteristic specks of various shapes and sizes on them with a pencil, and then mark the areas of shadow and light with neat hatching.

Step 8

Give volume to the petals with shading. The shading should be slightly rounded, repeating the outlines and curves of the petals.

Step 9

Draw elongated narrow leaves on the lower part of the stem, shade their dark and light places, make the stem more voluminous. The lily drawn with a pencil is ready.
