Wool felting bags go well with both suits and casual wear. In addition, the felting process is very fun and personal. And you will be sure that you will never find the exact same handbag as yours.

It is necessary

  • - 300 grams of wool for felting;
  • - air bubble film;
  • - mosquito net;
  • - water;
  • - detergent;
  • - sponge.

Instructions

Step 1

Spread an air-bubble film for wet felting on the working surface and cut out a template for a future bag with dimensions of 33x44 cm. Note that when felting, wool will roll down by 1/3 and therefore another 30% must be added to the size of the template. If you want the bag to be trapezoidal, narrow the edges of the resulting rectangle.

Step 2

Lay part of the woolen strands along the entire template, and lay the next part in a second layer, but perpendicular to the first. Make sure that the ends of the strands protrude beyond the template. Cover the wool with a mosquito net.

Step 3

Prepare a soapy solution. To do this, dilute one drop of dish detergent in one glass of water. Soak the coat with the prepared solution using a sponge. Begin to roll the wool with your palm in a circular motion for 7 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the mosquito net and turn the blank over. Fold over the protruding edges onto bubble wrap. Now lay the strands of wool on the new side in two layers in the same way as you did in the second step. Cover the wool with mosquito net again, dampen it with soapy water and dump. To make the bag more durable, repeat laying the wool and felting twice more on each side of the template.

Step 5

As soon as the wool is dumped in several layers, roll the blank together with the film into a roll and start rolling it on the working surface, as if you were rolling the dough with a rolling pin. Then straighten the roll and roll it again, but in the other direction, continue to perform the "rolling pin" movements. Collapse and unfold until the template looses.

Step 6

Make a neat slit in the top edge of the bag and remove the film template. Rinse the bag under water, alternating a cold stream with a hot one. This will allow the coat to thicken well.

Step 7

Fill a basin with hot water and dissolve a few drops of detergent in it. Begin to actively roll the bag in the solution until the desired size is reached. Then rinse it in cold water.

Step 8

Lather your fists and insert them into the corners of the bag, make a few circular motions. After achieving the desired result, stuff the item with plastic bags or newspapers to shape. Leave the bag to dry in a warm place.

Step 9

To make the handles, felle two bundles of wool. To do this, measure the required length and wrap the ends of the strands with polyethylene so as not to soak. Soak the future tourniquet in soapy water and roll it vigorously in your palms. Once the wool has formed into a tight rope, rinse in cold water and dry. Using the same principle, make a second tourniquet and, after drying, sew them to the bag.
