Folding animal figures, flowers and a wide variety of objects out of paper is a whole art, the name of which is origami and the homeland of which is Japan. Origami craftsmen can make the most intricate shapes out of paper, and beginners can try with simpler things, such as a boat (steamer).

Instructions

Step 1

Take a piece of paper and cut it to make a square. The square should be large enough, since you will be folding it in four three times, and as a result, the boat will be significantly smaller than the original paper size.

Step 2

Fold the square diagonally and unfold. Fold over the other two corners again and unfold again. In front of you should be a sheet with two folds, each of which runs from one corner to the opposite through the center of the square.

Step 3

Now take one of the corners and fold to the center (the intersection of the two diagonal folds). Fold the other three corners to make a square again.

Step 4

Turn the resulting square over to the other side, while the corners bent towards the center should be turned towards the table, and not towards you. Bend all corners back to the center again to make a square again.

Step 5

Repeat the previous step one more time: flip the square with the corners away from you, bend the corners to the center again.

Step 6

Now flip the square again. You don't need to fold the corners anymore, but you need to unfold the resulting folds as follows. On the resulting square in front of you are four small squares with flaps. Move the flaps of the two opposite squares to the sides - you get two steamboat pipes.

Step 7

Place the figurine in front of you with one pipe pointing towards you and the other away from you. Now fold the boat in half, overlaying one pipe on top of the other, while pushing left and right the two remaining squares with flaps (which thus become the bow and stern of the ship).

Step 8

Such boats can be launched in a bath or simply in a basin of water, blowing on them and directing them forward. You can also pre-paint them with your children (use waterproof means - ballpoint pens, pencils, wax crayons), give the ships names and arrange real competitions, which will bring a lot of positive emotions to you and your children.
