Knitting has remained one of the most popular types of needlework for several centuries. Of course, a great variety of clothing models have appeared during this time. It seems that they are all different. But if you look closely, there are only a few types. On their basis, you can always come up with something original.

One of the most popular types of knitted models is with set-in sleeves or raglan, assembled from separate parts. In this way, sweaters, dresses, vests, coats and other items of clothing are made. It is better to knit such models according to the pattern. It is enough to make a basic pattern once, and you can knit anything you like using it. For the pattern, take measurements: half-girths of the chest, hips and waist, sleeve length, depth and height of the armhole. Make a pattern for a straight dress. By decreasing the length of the product, you will get a pattern for a jacket or sweater. As a rule, products from separate parts are knitted from below. Sweaters and sweaters start with elastic. Details are crocheted or sewn. When performing such models, it is very important to correctly calculate the armhole and sleeve ridge. Decrease of loops on raglan goes through a row, one loop at a time.

An interesting model can be obtained from rectangles. The details of the shelf and backrest look exactly the same. They are knitted from below or from above to the middle of the shoulder. The sleeves are also rectangles. This is one of the easiest knitting methods, but the pattern should be especially neat and precise.

Some things are more comfortable to knit without seams. In this case, it is better to start from the top, from the collar. The most common way is to knit with raglan from the collar. To do this, the total number of loops should be divided by 6, 1/6 for the sleeves and 1/3 for the shelf and back. You can knit on 5 knitting needles or on knitting needles with a fishing line. At the beginning of work, it is necessary to accurately mark the beginning of the raglan lines. The raglan line itself is performed like this. If you start the row with a shelf or back, tie with the main pattern until 1 loop remains to the raglan line. Purl it and make a straight or reverse yarn over. Start the sleeve with two front loops, followed by a straight or reverse yarn and purl. Thus, it turns out that 1 loop of each line will be on the shelf or back, and 3 loops, not counting the yarns, on the sleeve. Knit even rows according to the pattern. Add loops to the bottom of the armhole. Then knit in a straight line to the waist, hips or bottom, depending on the length of the garment.

Products with a one-piece sleeve are obtained by knitting them with one fabric from the bottom or from the sleeve. In this case, it is sometimes necessary to sew the side seams. To knit a sweater or dress from the bottom, dial the calculated number of loops on the knitting needles. Knit in a straight line to the bottom line of the armhole. Then add stitches on both sides of the sleeves. An accurate calculation must be made so that the sleeve is not too short or too long. It can only be adjusted with a longer than intended or shorter elastic band, which is tied at the very end. Knit the fabric up to the neckline. Find the middle of the row and mark it. Having retreated from this point equal distances to the right and left, close the loops under the neck, and in the next row, get the same amount. Having knitted to the armhole, decrease the buttonholes of the sleeves in the same sequence as you added them, and finish the product with a straight linen. After you sew it, tie the collar and cuffs. It is convenient to do this on five knitting needles.

Knitting starting from the sleeve is not much different from the previous method. The most significant difference is that having tied it up to the beginning of the neck, it is necessary to divide the work and perform the shelf and back separately. In this case, the details do not have to be removed from the spokes. If you are knitting on knitting needles with a fishing line, simply divide the row in half, tie a new ball to the beginning of one of the parts and perform the front and back in parallel. After tying the hole for the neckline, join the work. And in this method, and in the previous one, not yet sewn product in unfolded form is a cross.

Based on these options, you can develop your own models. For example, a square yoke can be calculated based on a top-tied raglan. It is enough to choose a suitable drawing. It is also convenient to knit a round yoke on top. To do this, distribute the number of loops to be added evenly over the entire row.

A separate genre is poncho. It is more convenient to knit it from above, dividing the total number of loops into 4 parts. The lines for adding loops coincide with the midlines of the parts. The addition is exactly the same as for the raglan tied from above, only the border between the parts passes between the two front loops, that is, a purl loop, a yarn and 1 front loop are tied on each part. By the way, in this way you can knit not only the poncho, but also the skirt and the bottom of the dress.
