Plastic sculpting is one of the exciting hobbies that can be done not only by adults, but also by children. However, the figure sculpted from a faceless material does not look very attractive, so it needs to be painted. It is best to apply a drawing on plastic with acrylic paints.
It is necessary
- - acrylic paints;
- - dishwashing detergent or alcohol;
- - acrylic primer or varnish;
- - brushes and sponge;
- - stencil;
- - water;
- - thinner;
- - PVA glue;
- - talc;
- - dry pigment;
- - palette;
- - pearlescent powder.
Instructions
Step 1
Burn the fashioned product in the oven in accordance with all the rules, since it can only be painted with paint after that. Degrease with dish soap or rubbing alcohol.
Step 2
If possible, apply several coats of acrylic primer so that later the paint will lay down better and not flake off. Instead of a primer, you can varnish the plastic and wait until it dries completely.
Step 3
Prepare materials - good acrylic paint (preferably in tubes "Sonnet", or acrylic for ceramics and glass), a few soft brushes, water for dilution. Additionally, you may need a drying retarder, PVA glue.
Step 4
If the drawing allows, make a stencil. To do this, print the drawing on paper and carefully cut the outline from the inside. Better yet, make a stencil from thick film, it can be used several times. By attaching it to the product, you will paint over only the inside, without going beyond the boundaries.
Step 5
Dilute paint that is too thick with water or thinner, add PVA glue, talcum powder to the liquid paint, or keep the paint can open for several days, stirring constantly. Add a little dry pigment to too transparent paint and mix thoroughly.
Step 6
Use a disposable plate or plastic white surface for palette. In it, you can easily mix different colors and apply them to the product using a sponge or brush. Do not forget to wash your brushes immediately after work - acrylic dries very quickly and spoils them.
Step 7
Add some pearlescent powder to the paint to create a metallic or iridescent effect on your plastic product. It can be added even at the sculpting stage. Despite the fact that the powder is quite expensive, a small jar will be enough for you for a long time.
Step 8
If you create large quantities of polymer clay or plastic and you constantly need to apply paint with smooth transitions (for example, when painting dolls), use an aerosol can.
