An excellent idea of making a bag from pieces of leather can be embodied in a beautiful, convenient and functional accessory. To do this, you absolutely do not need to have the exclusive talents of a seamstress, but just need to carefully handle the sewing machine.

It is necessary

  • - leather (pieces of leather);
  • - glue "Moment";
  • - sewing machine;
  • - rubber hammer;
  • - zipper (40 cm long);
  • - 0.5 m of lining fabric;

Instructions

Step 1

The bag with a pocket in the side seam is sewn from two rectangular pieces, each 38 * 50 cm in size. In this case, each piece consists of four small rectangles. It should be borne in mind that when sewing, one centimeter on each side of the part will go into the seams and also a 5 cm allowance on top of the hem.

Step 2

Having prepared two basic rectangular leather blanks, round off their lower corners using an object of a suitable radius (a large roll of adhesive tape, a saucer, a glass). With a roll of duct tape attached to the corner of the leather piece, circle and cut out. Then draw darts in the rounded corners to make the bag more voluminous. To build a dart, draw a diagonal of 45 °, 5-6 cm long. From the diagonal, draw two concave lines to create a dart solution of 2-3 cm.

Step 3

Cut the dart along the lines. Now, with this dart attached to the other rounded corners, circle and also cut out. Glue the darts on the main parts and sew them. Then carefully cut the tip of the dart to the very seam, bend the seam allowances in different directions, glue them, tap with a hammer to make them flatter and thinner and stitch from the front side.

Step 4

Cut out the lining of the bag. Lay out the lining fabric in two layers, put one leather part of the bag on it, adding 1 cm on the sides, cut along the contour. Then cut out 2 rectangles from the lining fabric: one rectangle measuring 25 * 15 cm (small pocket), and the other one equal in width to the main part of the lining, but shorter in length by 15 cm (large zipped pocket). Then cut out two teardrop-shaped pieces from the lining fabric (side pocket). The size of the side pocket burlap is 32-35 cm long and 20 cm wide (pocket entry line).

Step 5

Sew in a side pocket. Putting the main parts of the bag together, attach a piece of burlap to them on the side, stepping back from the top edge of 10 cm. Mark with a pen (felt-tip pen) the small notches - the places where the burlap is sewn to the main parts. Apply glue to the very edge of the leather from notch to notch and glue the burlap (front side of lining fabric to front side of leather). Make a seam allowance on the leather - 7-10 mm, and on the lining - 1.5 cm. Having laid the machine line exactly from notch to notch, make bartacks at the ends of the seams.

Step 6

Fold back the burlap pocket by bending over the unsewn edge (burlap seam allowance) and secure with a pin. Do the same for the other three edges. Glue and sew the side seam of the bag from pocket to top and from pocket downward, not reaching the bottom corner with a dart. The main thing is that the seams coincide with the notches where the burlap was sewn. Unfold the details of the bag, bending the seam allowances in different directions, glue them and tap with a hammer.

Step 7

Stitch around the edge of the pocket entry line with strong bartacks. Having folded the burlap pockets together, sew at a distance of 1.5 cm from the edge. Glue and sew the bottom and the second side of the bag. Spread the seam in different directions, glue and tap with a hammer.

Step 8

Turn the bag inside out, straighten the seams, gently tap the thick joints of the seams with a hammer. Sew a small pocket to the lining, pinning to one of the large burlap sacks 7-8 cm from the top edge, folding the seam allowances inward. Sew another stitch, making a compartment for the phone. Pet.

Step 9

Create a large zip pocket on the second lining. Sew a zipper to the top edge of the large rectangle. Having attached the pocket to the main part with pins, align the bottom and sides, and stitch. With the right sides and pockets folded in, sew along the side seams, making a round at the bottom corners, leaving a small hole. Without turning the lining inside out, insert the bag into it and glue the top edge of the bag to the top edge of the lining. Sew all over the top, twist through the hole in the bottom of the lining.

Step 10

Prepare 4 leather parts for the handles 60 cm long: two 3-4 cm wide and two 6-8 cm wide. Glue the wide parts along the long side with glue and bend the edges towards the center, joining them end-to-end. Then glue them to narrow strips and stitch along the edge.

Step 11

Sew the handle into the fold of the top edge of the bag. Having cut the holes in the fold line with a sharp knife, glue the edges of the handles into the holes and sew.
