Going fishing and choosing the bait, any fisherman finds himself in a situation of throwing dice - you can never say for sure which fish will bite on what. Even years of experience cannot guarantee a good choice, since not only the type of fish plays a role, but also the season, temperature and pressure, as well as many other factors - everything must be taken into account and thought out.
Live bait
The most popular bait is earthworm. It is suitable for fishing for walleye, bream, catfish, perch. A good crawling worm is that it can be found directly at the fishing site, the main thing is not to forget the scapula. In a rainy season, it is located near the surface of the earth, in drought it hides deeper. Worms found in meadows or glades are distinguished by their strength, while dung are thinner and more delicate, but they are considered one of the most valuable baits.
You can store worms for up to several months by placing them in a jar or bucket with moist soil; they should be fed with tea leaves, pieces of vegetables. Worms are uncomfortable because they quickly die in the water.
One of the most catchy baits is considered to be the caddis fly - the larva of a dragonfly. This is a white worm that lives in its own small garbage house, which sticks to itself like a shell. You can find it in streams and river creeks. You can store caddis flies for 1-3 days in a humid and cool place (but not in water). It is suitable for fishing any large or medium sized fish.
In many fishing shops you can buy such bait as maggot - the larva of a blowfly. On it you can catch roach, bream, bastard, shackle. The maggot has a hard shell, so it firmly holds on to the hook, several specimens can be caught per larva, but the same shell makes it unappetizing for some species of fish.
Maggots can be grown independently, for this, the remains of meat or offal, boiled eggs, fish are placed in the jar, there should be small holes at the bottom. Place this jar inside another larger one filled with sawdust. The larvae will fall through the holes onto the sawdust, where they can be collected.
All year round, such bait as bloodworms is available, these are the larvae of mosquitoes-derguns. They can be collected in muddy soil in water using a canvas or net scoop. It keeps well in a plastic container lined with a damp cloth if kept in the refrigerator and fed with sleeping tea. On bloodworms, you can catch perch, bream, breeder.
To catch a chub, you can use a grasshopper or a May beetle; for a change, you can try urticaria caterpillars, bark beetle larvae, butterflies. Experienced anglers take small frogs, dead rotten mice or other animals as bait for catfish or burbot.
Catchy bait from the kitchen
Fish of the carp family are good for dough made from white flour. It is convenient to hold it in a toothpaste tube and squeeze out as needed. Bread crumbs made from stale bread are also good, for this the bread is passed through a meat grinder, raw egg yolk and a little cotton wool are added.
