Due to its openness, simplicity and support by many programs, ISO is today, perhaps, the most popular format for storing optical drive image data. An ISO file contains a "snapshot" of the disc, that is, the entire sequence of data from all recorded sectors, including the data of the file system. Therefore, the ISO image may contain information that is not readable by conventional programs. It is often possible to reduce the size of an ISO image without affecting its content.
It is necessary
- - Alcohol 120% drive emulator program;
- - Nero Burning Rom program;
- - free space on the hard disk of the computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Add the ISO image to Alcohol 120%. Press Ctrl + O or Ins, or select File and Open from the menu. A file selection dialog will appear. Go to the directory with the image, select it and click the "Open" button.
Step 2
Mount the image to a virtual drive. Right-click on an item in the list of images. Highlight the "Mount to device" item and then the item corresponding to the required drive in the context menu.
Step 3
Copy all files and folders from the image to a temporary directory on the computer disk. Use a file manager or explorer.
Create a temporary directory on your hard drive. Open it in one of the panels of the file manager or an explorer window. In another explorer window or file manager panel, open the root directory of the virtual drive where the image is mounted. Select the entire contents of the image. Copy it to a temporary folder.
Step 4
Delete or archive some of the files in the temporary directory. If altering the contents of the image is acceptable, consider directly reducing the amount of information by deleting the files or compressing them. Perform the necessary actions with the files extracted from the image to disk.
Step 5
Start Nero Burning Rom and create a new project. Press Ctrl + N or use the New item of the File menu. Select the project type in the displayed dialog. It must match the format of the original image. Click the New button.
Step 6
Include in the project all information from the temporary directory. Open the temporary directory in the Nero file manager. Select its contents by pressing Ctrl + A. Use the mouse to move the selected content to the project window.
Step 7
Set the Nero Virtual Recorder as the target recording device. Click on the list in the toolbar. Click on the Image Recorder item.
Step 8
Begin the process of creating a new look. Press Ctrl + B or the Burn button on the toolbar. Click the "Burn" button in the dialog that appears.
Step 9
Create a new image containing data from the original image. Specify the name of the new image and the directory for saving it in the "Save image file" dialog, select the ISO data storage format. Click the Save button.
Step 10
Wait until the image file is written. Statistical information about the recording process will be displayed in the current window.
