Find out everything about the game. First you need to find out the version of the game, the level of its hacking in order to use cheats. In addition, if the game is fully licensed, it is not always possible to use the codes. Information about the version of your hobby, patch and other things can be found in the game settings. Also, such information is indicated on the disk. You may need to download special programs to reinstall certain elements of the game.

Download any required updates. Some cheat codes only work in certain update versions. You may also need to install an add-on or rollback to the original version. All these add-ons are on the game sites. You only need to find them. Then install them and launch the game.

Activate the cheat menu. Few games require this action. There is a confing.ini file in the game folder, open it. There you will see a list of different settings. Look for a column called cheatmode or cheatcode. This command is assigned a value of 0. Change it to 1 and save the file.

Open the cheat menu using a special key or a combination. Usually the tilde button on the keyboard is used for this. The combinations alt + C, alt + shift + c, ctrl + shift + 2 + 1 can also be used. Exotic menu options are always described on the site where you get the codes. Sometimes cheats are entered in a dialog box that is invoked by pressing the Enter key. In other cases, the classic way of invoking the menu with the tilde key is used.

Review the game menu. In some games, codes are entered in a special field that is called from the main menu. To do this, press the Esc key and select the "Enter cheat code" item. Alternatively, you can enter the command help and view the list of available hacks and the written spellings for them.
