The cannon is one of the earliest large-sized firearms. Researchers most often take 1354 as the date of the invention of the gun, although the first evidence of its use dates back thirty years earlier. Only old soldiers could shoot from the first cannons, the "youngsters" were simply not allowed.
Instructions
Step 1
On modern cannons, before you shoot, install a special targeting device - a panorama. Get the coordinates of the target and enter them into the on-board computer, or set the parameters in the homing device. Check aiming accuracy in manual mode. The aiming accuracy is achieved with the help of special optical devices attached to the barrel.
Step 2
Give the order to the loader, who must push the cartridge into the barrel or start the charging device (depending on the type of device). Pull the trigger. The shot has been fired.
Step 3
In a few seconds, when the slightly misplaced aiming is corrected on the gun, the gun will be ready to fire again. However, in real combat conditions, guns (meaning guns of this type) have long supplanted lighter types of weapons, and therefore today you can shoot only at restoration performances or in computer games.
Step 4
One of the earliest cannons was a short, cylindrical log of wood, empty on the inside and expanding at the top. The trunk of such a log was filled with a kind of "gunpowder": a mixture of sulfur, charcoal and saltpeter. A cannonball or "short arrows" (bolts) were placed on top, and the gunpowder was ignited through a special ignition hole.
Step 5
Over the next centuries, the process of shooting has undergone significant changes - from the cannons they fired cast-iron cannonballs, bombs, incendiary shells or buckshot. The guns were loaded from the muzzle, the gunpowder was set on fire in the seed hole, and they fired only in direct fire. The gun fired from 6 to 10 shots per hour, it should be noted that in the 15th-18th centuries, the rate of fire of a weapon, as a rule, did not play an important role. The cannon fired several hundred meters, while making a lot of noise, creating a bright flash of fire and a curtain of thick smoke. All this, multiplied by the effect of surprise, made the weapon very effective in battle.
