Be careful and take your time when choosing a rod. Along with good products, shops often receive low-quality ones, such as cheap second-rate fishing rods or defective products. You need to choose a rod carefully so that it does not break prematurely.

Step 1
First, inspect the rod, its appearance and markings. The marking usually indicates the name of the manufacturer, the model number and the name, as well as the number of knees, rod length, type of action, material and weight of the bait being cast. Having studied the properties of the rod by its marking, proceed to a visual inspection of the product. Connect all the knees tightly, take a close look at the little things.
Step 2
When visually inspecting the rod, you should pay attention to the following details: the rod whip should not contain cracks and bends; the axis and all rings of the spool holder must be in line; the knees should not turn, and the joints should have cracks, the joint of the knees should be tight; the spool holder nut should work easily. If you have a coil, try it on in place; rings should fit snugly, resin should not have cracks, inserts should be even and not rotate.
Step 3
But the visual inspection of the rod does not end there. Press the rod down against a flat surface, bend it slightly and evaluate the action. Wave the rod several times, as when casting, evaluate its rigidity. Now lift the rod up, swing it one way, then the other. There should be no extraneous sounds. And if you hear any clicks, then there is an internal crack in the rod or the knees are not tightly connected.
Step 4
Clicks can also be in the rings. In this case, it is enough to drip epoxy onto the ring joint. Then the clicking will stop. If you really like the rod, but its knees are not tightly connected, then this can be fixed. But the inner crack cannot be removed in any way, so it is better not to buy such a rod.
