When drawing an urban landscape, you should correctly depict all its elements, including shop windows and other institutions, as well as signs located above them. The credibility of the whole picture depends on the accuracy of their image.
Instructions
Step 1
Before doing the shop window drawing exercises, it is useful to walk around the city so that you can examine them closely. Please note that they have a different ratio between width and height, differ from each other in the shape of the windows. Most display cases are rectangular, but some have an arched top line. Showcases are decorated in different ways: some - with flat posters or stickers, others - with samples of goods sold, and others - with things that have nothing to do with the assortment, for example, antiques. The library showcase can be decorated with thematic stands.
Step 2
Please note: almost all showcases are double-layered. Behind the first double-glazed unit are the objects that decorate the showcase, and behind them is the second glass of the same size. The distance between the glasses is about half a meter. There can be partitions or columns between the sections. These partitions or columns may have sockets, which include spotlights, and in winter - also garlands.
Step 3
When drawing a shop window, first depict the outer windows, then give them shine with light diagonal strokes. Then draw the exposed objects, partitions, columns, and only then - the floor on which they stand. If you draw them in that order, you will not have to erase the part of the floor that is obstructed by these objects (this is especially important if drawing is done not with a pencil, but with felt-tip pens, watercolors). Draw the rear windows behind the exposed objects. Do not forget to also draw at least one door next to the shop window.
Step 4
You can also draw what is happening behind the window: how people choose products, stand in line at the checkout, and the like. Considerable detail is not required in this case - moreover, it will only hurt. This part of the drawing can be slightly blurred to emphasize that the interior of the store is located behind two glass panes.
Step 5
Draw a sign above the display case. Usually it consists of three-dimensional letters or a rectangular box, on the front wall of which an image is applied. Less common are square light boxes with one letter on each. If you are painting a cityscape at night, make these objects much lighter than anything else, and they will appear to be luminous. For more detail, you can draw barely noticeable wires next to the sign, as well as small boxes - transformers for gas tubes.
