Pictures and amateur drawings do not always depict the best manifestations of life. Its problematic, unsightly sides, as well as the hidden corners of the mind, subconsciousness and soul of the artist, also require attention. To express such images, you can invent and draw monsters.

Step 1
Determine what your character's character is. After all, a monster can be aggressive, sad, or even funny. Write down his main qualities.

Choose the right look for the best expression of the invented character. Try to move away from the stereotyped, familiar to everyone. Create a new character using a symbiosis of different creatures. You can combine separate parts of the human body, animals, insects, microorganisms and even inanimate objects. In addition, each of the parts should serve to demonstrate the character of the monster you have composed.
Step 3
The starting point for the work of your imagination can serve as catchphrases, play on words, metaphors. Draw them verbatim - and as a result, unprecedented monsters may appear.
Step 4
Look for inspiration in your environment. Take a closer look at the abstract pattern on the wallpaper, the shape of puddles, clouds, tree crowns and the outlines of mountains. Draw these silhouettes and spiritualize them.
Step 5
Leave the responsibility of creating the monster image to chance. Put some blots on the sheet. Apply paint to glass or smooth cardboard and then press it against the paper. Draw limbs or eyes to the resulting spots to turn them into monsters.
Step 6
Perhaps you won't have to invent anything. Just distort the proportions of the body parts of a living being in accordance with its monstrous essence.
Step 7
After the image is invented, select the material and technique for drawing it. Consider the combination of the character of the material and the hero. Blurred watercolor strokes on damp paper work well for lighter, more ephemeral creatures. Solid ink fills - for dense, with a pronounced charisma and a clear shape of monsters, etc.
Step 8
Determine the most beneficial composition of the drawing. If the monster of the hero lies in his appearance, make a traditional portrait of him - place it in the center of the sheet or shift it slightly to the side, leaving it in the foreground. For monsters that show character in action, find a characteristic pose and add the necessary items or minor characters to the sheet space.
Step 9
With all the parameters in mind, draw a monster. After working on his image, paint over the background of the picture. At the same time, the background should not distract attention to itself or merge with the monster (if this is not your original idea).
