Gripping sticks is the basis of good instrument play, so it is important to learn it from the first practice. Otherwise, your hands will get tired while playing the drums.

- Practice pad
- Sticks 5B
Instructions
Step 1
A bit of theory: there are two ways to grip sticks: German and French. In German, the fingers are pointing down. In French, go up. There is also an American grip - an intermediate position of the hand on a stick.
Step 2
First you need to find a place on the stick for which you need to hold it. This is usually the bottom third. Determining the exact location of the desired point is possible thanks to the bounce of the stick from the training pad: it should be as free as possible.
Step 3
When gripping, the thumb should be opposite the rest. You need to grip the stick without tension, easily, but not too much: it should be firmly in your hand, but at the same time move freely in it to strike the pad.
Step 4
Lower your hands with the sticks down and calmly raise them to the level of the pad. This is the position for the game. The elbow should never go far to the side. The distance between the elbow and the body is about 10-15 cm.
Step 5
For German and American grips, the following technique is used: before hitting, turn the wrist slightly towards you, while hitting - on the pad. The hand should be slightly bent.
Step 6
With a French grip, the fingers always point upward, the fingers of the hand push the stick up and down.
