A danceable rhythm, a well-balanced tempo and a relaxed manner of performance - all this is rock and roll. This musical genre gained its popularity back in the 50s and has preserved it to this day. Learning to play rock and roll is not difficult for a person who has already mastered playing the guitar.
Instructions
Step 1
More often, rock and roll is played in four quarters. This genre can be played on basic (ditty) guitar chords Dm, Am, E, Am. Only the "beat" should not be on all strings, but only on the bass. Generally the style of this music is based on bass strings (usually 6 and 4).
Step 2
First, learn how the 12-beat square is played. This is a blues trick, but since rock 'n' roll originated from the blues, the way of playing is passed on in the tradition of "father to son".
Step 3
Learn some of the simplest rock 'n' roll snippets. For example, the first of them is played quite easily. Play twice with the fifth open string, then hold it down and play on the fourth fret, and then on the fifth. Mute the strings between beats with the edge of your hand, and place emphasis on beats 2 and 4.
Step 4
Add to the previous riff playing the fourth string on the second fret twice, then move to the fourth fret and back to the second. These two riffs (as well as the others) need to be played in a 12-beat square with the same strings muffling.
Step 5
The third riff is a little more difficult as it is played on two strings already. Hold the 4th string on the 2nd fret, leave the 5th string open, play twice. Move your finger along the fourth string to the fourth fret and do the same. Then on the fifth fret (twice) and back, on the fourth.
Step 6
Play these riffs several times in a row, feel the rhythm. Then you can start improvising. By the way, learning the 12-bar time signature will help you learn how to improvise and create your own tunes. These riffs sound best when played with the pinch or fingernail of the index finger. Those who like to play with a pick do not have to change anything.
