Woolen socks can not only warm your feet in a long cold winter, but also become a real decoration if you approach their manufacture with a certain amount of imagination. Even simple stripes obtained by alternating multi-colored threads will help you get a unique product, the second of which you will not find anywhere else.
It is necessary
- - wool yarn
- - nylon thread
- - knitting needles
- - scissors
Instructions
Step 1
The higher the percentage of wool in the yarn you take, the warmer the knitted socks will turn out, but this rule hides one small catch. Pure woolen socks wear out very quickly so that they last longer, together with a woolen thread, when knitting, they start a thin auxiliary nylon. Sometimes it is enough to reinforce only the heel with a nylon thread, and the service life of the socks will immediately significantly increase.
Step 2
Most often, knitting needles number 2, 5 or 3 are used for knitting socks.
Step 3
Cast on the needles the required number of loops. Let's say you want size 38 socks for a standard foot. In this case, you will need to cast on 61 stitches. For size 40-41, the number of loops will have to be increased to 63, for 42-43 to 65 and for 44-45 to 69. Distribute the selected loops evenly over 4 knitting needles, forming a circle, for which the first and last loops should be knitted together.
Step 4
To make the elastic, knit two knit stitches and two purl stitches alternately. The length of the elastic can be arbitrary, but usually it ranges from 7-15 cm. When the elastic is ready, before proceeding to the heel, knit 3-4 rows necessary for the transition with face loops.
Step 5
To create a heel, continue knitting 2 of 4 knitting needles in stocking until you have a square, then divide the knitted stitches into three sections. By alternately tying the loops of the outer parts together with the middle, you will get a rounding, which will become the heel of your toe.
Step 6
Get the required number of loops, knitting the heels from the sides so that you get a circle again and continue knitting with the front loops until you get a sock of the required length.
Step 7
Start to release the loops. This can be done by knitting two loops in every second row on the left and right until 2-6 loops remain on the needles. Cut off the thread from the ball, leaving a small margin. Pull the end of the thread through the remaining loops, tighten the knot, and hide it from the wrong side of the sock.
Step 8
The second sock should be knitted in the same way as the first.
