Underwater photography is a complex process very different from outdoor photography. Specific lighting conditions and peculiarities create difficulties for photography and require special training and technical support.
It is necessary
special photographic equipment
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your camera. Charge rechargeable batteries, camera batteries, camcorders before diving. Check the tightness of the parts to be closed to avoid water ingress. It is advisable to set a mode suitable for underwater shooting on land.
Step 2
Once immersed, practice finding a stable body position. You must learn to hold the camera in a certain position for a while in order to have time to take several pictures.
Step 3
Since shooting conditions are different from terrestrial conditions, take multiple shots from the same angle. You may only get one good quality photo.
Step 4
A good assistant for underwater photography will be a movable large monitor, which allows you to make sure that the chosen angle is correct even in difficult conditions, for example, when the object is located out of line of sight.
Step 5
Choose the distance to the subject as close as possible, no more than two meters. At a great distance, it will appear blurry. To avoid blurry effects, use manual focus on the camera.
Step 6
A feature of underwater photography is the distortion of the perceived distance. Everything seems closer under water than on land. Therefore, to make the photo capture the scene you want, set the shooting mode to wide.
Step 7
The best time for underwater photography is a sunny afternoon. The sun's rays fall on the surface of the water almost vertically, penetrating it to the maximum depth. This allows you to take the highest quality pictures. If, nevertheless, it is not possible to choose the right time, artificial lighting will come to the rescue. Since water absorbs the red spectrum of light radiation, the additional light source must be close in spectrum to conventional incandescent lamps.
Step 8
After removing the camera from the water, be sure to rinse it with clean fresh water to prevent salt from entering and damaging the surface. Before opening the camera body, make sure it is completely dry.
