The possibilities of using wool for felting are very diverse: from homemade decorations to toys, from bags to panels. Their construction is based on two wool felting techniques.
It is necessary
- - wool
- - needles for felting
- - foam sponge
- - oilcloth
- - liquid soap
Instructions
Step 1
Dry felting. Prepare your workplace. Take a wide, thick foam sponge - it will protect the table surface from scratches and will help you not to get hurt by the needle.
Step 2
Divide the wool into pieces, from which you will felle separate pieces of the object. Do not cut off the required amount, but tear off with your fingers. When harvesting pieces, keep in mind that during the process the wool will decrease in volume at least twice. The denser the piece is felted, the more it shrinks.
Step 3
Form the rough outlines of the part with your fingers, place them on the foam rubber and begin to pierce with a felting needle. First shape with a thicker needle, then refine with a thinner needle. The more jewelry the work is, the smaller the diameter of the needle should be. Then, weld individual pieces or pieces of other colors to the product.
Step 4
Wet felting. Cover the desktop with oilcloth. Spread the wool on it in strands in different directions. The coat should be uniform. Moisten the entire area of the garment with diluted liquid soap and begin to smooth the coat by moving your hands in different directions. Do this until the villi are tangled tightly enough to become one.
Step 5
Rinse the finished garment in warm water and leave to dry at room temperature.
