New Year is coming soon, Christmas tree toys are sold in stores. They are all beautiful, but ordinary. If you want to decorate the Christmas tree with special toys, then you should buy wool for felting, blanks of various shapes. Making Christmas tree decorations by felting is a fun activity that children will definitely like.
It is necessary
Colored wool for felting, foam blank, sequins, beads, rhinestones (optional), special felting needle, sewing needle, threads, glue, scissors, liquid soap, water, bubble wrap
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare wool for felting. It needs to be torn into small pieces and fluffed up.
Step 2
We "glue" small pieces of wool to the workpiece; for this, the fiber needs to be slightly moistened and glued to the ball.
Step 3
Cover the ball with wool. There should be several layers, the ball should not show through the wool.
Step 4
Pour soapy water over the ball (the water should foam well, it is better to use liquid soap).
Step 5
Roll the ball on a hard surface, you need to press hard with your palm. It is better that the surface is corrugated or with protrusions. When the wool is matted, wrap the ball in a bubble wrap and continue to roll. The process of felting a ball takes a lot of time, patience is required. You can try dumping the ball in the washing machine. To do this, the ball, which has been pasted over with wool, must be put in a thin nylon sock and put into the washing machine.
Step 6
Dry the ball, it can dry for two days (if put under the battery).
Step 7
The finished ball needs to be decorated. You can sew sequins to it (always with a thin needle), glue rhinestones, or make a pattern from wool of a different color.
Step 8
For example, you can make a herringbone out of green wool. Gently roll the green wool to the ball with a thick dry felting needle.
Step 9
You can sew on a satin ribbon bow, or glue it on.
Step 10
Pierce the surface of the ball, stretch the thread and make a loop. The ball is ready, you can hang it on the tree or give it to loved ones.
