Wool has one special quality - at high temperature and friction, it shrinks in size and "falls off". This property is used by craftsmen for the manufacture of many products: from toys to felt boots. If you want, you can quite easily knit beautiful, warm and comfortable slippers at home. Try it and you will definitely succeed!
It is necessary
- - cotton wool and tape for making pads;
- - combed tape;
- - grater;
- - laundry soap;
- - hot water;
- - oilcloth on the desktop.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a block. Form a blank (foot model) of the desired size from cotton wool. Shape the last by rolling it tightly with duct tape. As you roll up the tape, you will see where you need to add cotton wool. As a result, you should have a life-size model. Make sure that the tape overlaps the cotton wool tightly, because the block will be immersed in hot water more than once. Follow the same scheme for the block for the second leg.
Step 2
Grate the laundry soap. Place all the soap shavings in a prepared container and pour boiling water in a ratio of 1: 5. Let the soap dissolve and mix thoroughly. This will be the felting solution.
Step 3
Tear the combed tape of the chosen color into ribbons 15-20 cm long. Wrap the workpiece with these pieces, giving the shape of the future slipper. The layers should be overlapped as in a medical dressing. Make sure the layers overlap evenly. Lay the wool in several layers on the toe and heel areas.
Step 4
Moisten and thicken the coat with hot water and soap until the slipper is 1.5 times larger. The fluffy material will become dense and firm. Massage in circular motion around the toe and heel.
Step 5
Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan and dip the food into it. Hold the slipper in boiling water for 2 minutes and carefully remove it with tweezers. Rinse under running water. The workpiece should be noticeably reduced in size.
Step 6
The second time, cover the workpiece with soap and continue felting until the slipper "sits" on the last. The coat should be matted and tightly wrapped around the last.
Step 7
Rinse the workpiece in water and leave to dry at room temperature (5-6 hours). Once the coat is dry, carefully remove the slipper from the last, trim and finish the top.
Step 8
Decorate the edge of the slipper using an interesting technique - felting. Carefully attach a combed tape of the desired color to the edge and pierce with a needle until the wool is fastened along the entire edge of the shoe.
Line the pattern on the slipper with pieces of wool and secure with a needle. Keep in mind that the more punctures you make, the denser the sneaker will become in this place. Cut a sole of the required size out of felt and sew it to the slipper with a cross stitch.
