To make the learning process more enjoyable and exciting, it needs to be turned into a game. Together with your child, mold figures of animals, the names of which you have learned recently. One of the easiest toys to make is a squirrel.

Step 1
You can reduce the cost of the toy and make it lighter with a foil and wire frame. Cut a piece of strong wire 30 cm long. Wrap the foil around it, forming a blank for the main parts of the squirrel's body.
Step 2
Roll the soft food foil into an oval that will fit your body. Squeeze the upper part of the part more so that the workpiece takes on an egg-shaped shape. For the head, roll up a rounded cone. The length of the muzzle should be about the same as the height of the body. Roll the frame of the fluffy squirrel tail in the form of a cylinder. Bend the wire together with the foil so that the squirrel's head is parallel to the table surface, the body is vertically at a slight slope, the tail is lifted up, and its tip bend down. Cut off excess wire.
Step 3
Wrap the blanks with polymer clay. Roll it into 1.5 cm thick pieces for each piece. Start with the head of the toy. Wrap it with plastic so that the seam is on the underside of the muzzle. Smooth it carefully with your fingers to make it invisible. Blind off two small oblong ears and attach them to the head.
Step 4
Wrap the plastic around the torso of the craft, and then blind the legs. Make the lower ones round at the base, with narrow long feet. The upper legs should be one third longer than the head. Bend them at the elbows. You can put a nut in the squirrel's paws.
Step 5
Treat the tail last. Carefully smooth the place of its connection with the body. To depict the texture of fluffy fur, use a toothpick or a needle to draw individual villi on the plastic - long on the tail and short on the body and head.
Step 6
Depending on the type of polymer clay, it will need to be dried at room temperature or in the oven. Paint the finished toy with acrylics. If you want to give the squirrel a natural look, brown it. When the paint is dry, use a sponge to apply a thin layer of gray to the belly, back, head between the ears and the tip of the tail.
