By no means always have the necessary skills to write out gorgeous patterns, especially if the needlewoman does not have sufficient experience. However, even an ordinary "strip" knitted in a harmoniously selected color scheme can be made in different ways. And how many different "striped" combinations can be used as a basis for a knitted garment. In this matter, there is simply unlimited scope for imagination.

It is necessary

  • - yarn of 2-3 colors;
  • - knitting needles.

Instructions

Step 1

The horizontal stripe is the most common type, as it is easy to make as you knit. However, you must remember that stripes knitted with hosiery and garter stitch will look completely different. Cast on 20 stitches for any pattern described. Do not forget that in each row, the first (edge) loop must be removed without knitting, since it forms an even edge of the fabric.

Step 2

Striped hosiery. Choose two colors of thread, such as white and blue. Start with blue yarn. Knit rows 1, 3, 5 with front loops. Run 2, 4, 6 with purl loops, that is, according to the pattern. Before starting to knit a row in a different color, attach a new (white) thread to the free end of the used (blue) yarn. Now also remove the first hem and knit with white threads the same number of rows. Do not cut the thread that was used for the strip of the previous color, because after 6 rows, continue working with yarn of a contrasting color again. Change colors from the same side.

Step 3

Striped garter knit. Knit the entire sample only with front loops. If the threads were of the same color, then there would be no difference between the front and back sides. However, when knitting with contrasting threads, a difference appears. Work 2 rows of blue yarn, then 2 rows of white yarn. Repeat the alternation several times and compare the two sides. There will be stripes on the front side, each in 2 rows. From the inside, contrasting stripes are located 2 times more often.

Step 4

It is a little more difficult to knit a strip vertically, and more yarn is used. Sew the first row with the front loops, and the second with the purl loops with blue threads. Now start knitting 3 rows. At the beginning, tie a white thread with which you will start working. Remove the first edge loop, then knit the entire row with front loops: 4 white, 5 blue, 5 white, 5 blue. Do not cut the threads of contrasting colors, but stretch freely from the seamy side, that is, at work. In the seamy row, free threads will be located in front of work.

Step 5

A diagonal strip is knitted similarly to a vertical strip with only a slight difference. Knit the 3rd row in the same way as in the above scheme, 4th row according to the figure. In the 5th row, "shift" each color by one loop (you can do it by 2). As a result, you will get a front canvas with diagonal stripes.
