Handmade striped outfits and accessories look unpretentious and elegant at the same time. They do not require painstaking and long-term execution - it is enough for the needlewoman to be attentive and accurate. The ability to knit strips of different colors allows housewives to use all the leftover yarn from other works to create new unique things. Using horizontal or vertical lines on clothes, you can disguise figure flaws and prepare a product for a person of any gender and age.
It is necessary
- - yarn of two or more colors;
- - a sketch of the future outfit;
- - containers for balls;
- - jacquard thimble.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the optimal combination of multi-colored yarns and think over the order of alternation of the stripes on the product for a beautiful multi-color knitting. All threads must be of the same thickness! It is recommended that a beginner needlewoman first knit stripes of two successively alternating colors. It is good if the darker tone of the pattern will be combined with the trim elements: inlay, cuffs, hem of pockets and others. This will make things complete.
Step 2
Try horizontal stripes. To do this, you need to dial the required number of loops on the knitting needles and knit several rows in one color. Choose the thickness of the strips individually. Start using yarn of a different color only from the front row!
Step 3
Place balls of yarn of different colors in special containers for jacquard (multicolored patterned knitting) so that they do not get tangled. Sew the hem with a new color and start knitting. When making the second strip, watch out for the formation of thread broaches on the left of the work: they should neither hang freely nor tighten the knitted fabric.
Step 4
Learn to knit vertical stripes. In this variant of the two- or multi-color pattern, the yarn of the new color is also always introduced in the front row. First, knit the required number of front loops (depending on the thickness of the future strip) from one working thread. Then place the yarn from the non-working ball on this thread, forming an overlap. This trick will help to gently pull the threads through the wrong side of the garment.
Step 5
Knit the next strip, keeping an eye on the broaches. The wider you make the pattern, the more often it is recommended to secure the purl with overlaps. So they will not tighten the work.
