Feeder fishing tackle is a frequent visitor to our waters. You can even meet a feeder rod in the hands of an inexperienced beginner mastering fishing. Such tackle has a number of characteristics that make it possible to distinguish them from spinning boards mounted on their fiberglass. The complete set of feeder rods includes a set of replaceable tips of different rigidity. Let's start choosing a rod.
Instructions
Step 1
The length of the feeder rod ranges from 3, 6 to 4, 5 m. The most common rods are about 3, 7 m long. This length allows you to cast the bait over long distances. In addition, when working with tackle on a rocky bottom, where there is a high probability of snagging, this rod length is enough to jerk the rig off the bottom. A shorter rod will not allow this.
Step 2
If you practice long-distance casts, you will need a rod longer than 4 m. The long tackle has proven itself well when fishing in a strong current, as well as in cases where tall grass or bushes grows behind the angler. The disadvantage of a long feeder rod is that it is somewhat heavy and less comfortable to handle.
Step 3
There are models of feeder rods, the length of which can be set independently using additional elbows. At the same time, you can control the characteristics of the tackle depending on the fishing conditions.
Step 4
The feeder rod comes with several replaceable tips. They differ in rigidity. The usual material for making tops is fiberglass or carbon fiber. CFRP is a more powerful and rigid material, while fiberglass is sensitive and transmits all the slightest changes to the tooling. The vertex must be monolithic, since a hollow one can break off under load.
Step 5
To use the feeder in optimal conditions, its power is indicated in the characteristics to the rod. Unfortunately, different manufacturers use different types of markings, so it can be difficult to compare them. If in doubt, consult a sales consultant.
Step 6
When choosing, pay attention to the line of the feeder. Powerful and heavy rods are significantly more rigid. It is these rods that allow you to cast the tackle far and accurately, as well as avoid possible breakdowns.
Step 7
To test the action, remove the tip, and then with the usual shaking of the hand, determine how well the rod bends. If the rod bends more in the upper third, this gear should be preferred.
Step 8
Finally, pay attention to the number of feed rings on the feeder. The more rings, the better. The large number of rings allows the load to be evenly distributed. The rings should be on three legs.
